I like you, my fellow opponauts. I was thinking today, I've been lucky to have some pretty Jalop-approved cars over the years. Like my '13 BMW 135is.
Directly preceding my current asshole-mobile, I had this '06 Mazdaspeed 6, with some extra stuff:
And before that, I had the answer to all things automotive, a '99 Miata 10th Anniversary Edition, with its own assortment of extra stuff:
Before that I had a '92 Integra GSR (i.e. the boxy one with the B17A and automatic seatbelts).
So, post up your ride history! But no dick pics.

I started out with a 2000 VW New Beetle. It was a turbo. I spun it out while taking a 90 degree bend on a tar and chip backroad. I was picking grass out of my wheel/tire crease for quite a while when I got home. Parents never knew and still don't know. It's been 10 years.
Next car was an 05 Ford Focus sedan.
Then I bought my first real Jalop car—a Porsche 944.
Now I've replaced the Ford with a Fiesta ST, yet another pretty well approved Jalop mobile.
Next I may swap the Porsche out for a wagon or something. Don't know if I want to go Miata just yet.

I don't really remember all the cars and only have a few pics I have had, but some of my favorites working backwards are:
73 240Z - Full restomod. SR20DET, full fresh paint and flared and undercoated, Wilwood big breaks all the way around, Tokico shocks and springs, the list goes on and on. I wrote an entire parts inventory system to use to track everything that has gone into this car.
13 BRZ - Bought it for the wife. It's ok, but wouldn't have been my choice.
11 Ninja 1000 - My DD while while working on my other project cars. Faster than any car I have, so that's a big plus.
04 S2000 - Mostly kept stock and autocrossed/DD'd. Excellent daily driver and fun in the snow.
01 Jetta - A little 1.8t Wolfsburg with power and suspension mods. Strange little car to race once it was running a bigger turbo and too much boost. I remember the brakes overheated a lot, which made it strangely fun/terrifying.
85 RX-7 GSL-SE - Aggressive street port 13B, full suspension, etc. Fun car, tried to kill me a lot.
93 MR2 - Bought it wrecked, fixed the body up, upgraded the suspension, autocrossed. All around great car, I wish I could get it back... but the kid who bought it wrecked it like a week later.
90 300ZX - Great car, totaled due to high speed + deer.
71 240Z - Super low, IMSA size flares, extremely high comp L24. Right around 200 HP on AVGas. Ran absurdly wide tires (285s when I sold it) all the way around. If the car wasn't trying to explode or kill me, it was the best thing I had every driven. Really wish I could get it back.
90 CRX Si - It was a dreadful car to try to race, but strangely fun. Loads of personality. Made a weird growling noise punctuated by a wheeze when shifting gears and using a short cone filter...
There were a few BMWs and other German stuff mixed in there, some more bikes, a Z31 300ZX, a Geo Metro, a couple Sentras, and other random cars that I don't remember much of other than I don't miss them. Most were just temporary transportation while I was shopping for a new fun car.
Here are a few pics. I don't have pics of many cars, but I have a lot of the later cars.

1) 1989 Camry (ran on 2/6 cylinders with a rusted out muffler...sounded like a go-kart...quite the jalopy) - Ended with a fiery death
(Not my car but similar)
2) 1994 Grand Prix (Terrible and slow) - Also ended with a fiery death
(Not the car but similar)
3) 2004 Dodge Neon (Reliable until it died) - Ended with a nuked transmission (Smoky death)
4) 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Great car but had been t-boned prior to purchase) - Had I kept it much longer, I might have died upside down in a ditch
5) 1998 Chevy Blazer 2-door (Great SUV) - Gas Money was its ultimate demise
6) 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Good car, many a trans and exhaust issues) - Currently driving with a gnarly trans knock that only shows while in drive and stopped. DEF gonna need some help soon.
Almost wish I had the messed up 2000 GTP that had about 40 lbs of Bondo, instead of this one. I knew the other one would get me places, maybe sideways but I knew I'd get there. (The suspension got knocked out of whack from the replacing of parts without an alignment.)

Here is a list of every car I've ever owned. It's an awfully Jalopnik-approved list if you like BMWs:
1987 BMW E30 325es manual
1992 Acura Vigor auto
1994 BMW E34 525i manual
1996 BMW E36 328is manual
2003 BMW E46 330Ci auto
2004 BMW E46 M3 SMG
and when I find the right one, a 90s Jeep Cherokee will join the list as a winter beater/trailhead truck/dog transport.

Past rides include one of each gen Oldsmobile aurora, a OG 900S with a stick an auto NG 900s, a stick 9000 aero, a '95 Taurus with green velour interior, a '95 bronco with a 5.8, a '88 Silverado with a 305 and 400k on the odo, and that....that's all I can think of, unless you count my '66 Massey Ferguson MF 10 tractor.

Current stable (i.e. streetside) -
2005 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon (5MT)
1989 BMW E30 (325i)...I've had this for a while as a second car now, probably not letting go anytime soon
Before the LGT were -
2003 Honda S2000
1995 Honda Civic
1994 Mazda Protege (been avoiding automatics like the plague since...yes, I know they're much better now).
Question - how rare is the 135is? I've noticed a handful over the last few weeks..not sure if I was just lucky or if they're less rare than I thought they were? Also, worth the premium over the regular 'i'? A used 1 series is definitely on the short list of options for my next replacement.

Hmm. Not that many I've actually owned outright in my own name. A Toyota Carina E for a little while, and now a BMW E30. Oh no, I tell a lie, I owned a part-share in a nearly dead Vauxhall Corsa we bought for £50 and thrashed around an industrial estate before calling the scrappy.
There have also been any number of vehicles that I've either borrowed, rented, or had through work for at least a few weeks. In no particular order:
Merc 190e
Merc E Class - round headlight one
Merc Sprinter van
Peugeot 505 estate - my mum's car when I passed my test
Saab 9-5 estate - ditto a few years later
Fiat Punto 1.2 - put a lot of miles on that one, although it belonged to my dad
Peugeot 307
Renault Clio
Renault Twingo
Renault Megane
Renault small van
Renault big van
Citroen small van - all this last lot when I was working in France for ski companies, and there are probably more I've forgotten
Mitsubishi Lancer - borrowed for six months when I was in Trinidad
VW Golf, Ford Mondeo, etc etc - boring work cars
I'm sure I've forgotten a few more.

parent's rides borrowed:
1989 Audio 100 Quattro (manual, dark blue, tan leather)
1984 Mazda B-2000, white, extend-cab, manual, 2wd
1993 Mazda B-2600, silver, extend cab, manual, 2wd
cars that I actually owned in my own damn name:
1989 Mazda Protege LX (White, the one with the screeming 1.8L, slick 5-speed, passive rear steering, and 4-wheel disk brakes so magical you could feel the rotors spinning through the pedal... Died of repair cost too-high syndrome on major brake failure with 375K miles)
1992 Alfa Romeo 164-S - Black, I still miss that car... sold with 400K+ miles on it
1997 Buick LeSabre (Light blue/green, 1st auto trans car I ever owned. trans self-destructed at 290K miles, sold it as parts/scrap for only $200 less than i paid for it, having put over 150K miles on it)
2003 Hyundai Elantra (Beige! lost a fight with a snowplow on a black-ice skating rink)
2000 Toyota Corolla CE (Beige! lost a fight with an uninsured/unregistered/suspended liscence driven 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix)
1998 Volvo v70 AWD (Red, with some tweaking to the bypass valve, ran about 12lbs instead of 8, auto, sold with just over 200K miles on it due to continuing high repair costs)
1982 Volvo 242 race car (Green, all the IPD suspension, cage, 2x weber 45-DCOEs, limited-slip. undergoing restoration)
2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring (Chilipepper Red, great car really, I kinda miss it some days... traded in on the current ride)
2014 Ford Fiesta ST (Molten Orange)

84 Pontiac 6000LE, Gold
97 Mitsubishi Galant, Teal(converted to Diamond Ed. VR4 front fascia, all show-no go) Got it w/ about 40K/mi, sold it w/ 125K. The kid who bought it totaled it in less than 4K/mi.
99.5 Audi A4. 1.8T AWD, MT/short-shift kit. Black. The Amish had better electronics than this car.
88 Mitsubishi Starion. MT. Red. Perhaps you've seen it. Was the featured Reader's Ride in the first Japanese Nostalgic Car mag. Won best Mild Mitsu in 07 @ HIN: Nightshift Chicago. Had 140K+mi on it before I sold her to a nice man in AZ who had one in high school.
05 Jaguar X-Type Sport. 3.0 AWD. Black. My favorite daily driver I've ever had. I don't care that it's a Mondeo w/ leather and a catface on it.
88 Chrysler Conquest. Auto. Durban Maroon(see: purple). Got it for $100 and a pair of molded mudguards. SEVERE rust problems, and was unable to save. Car almost killed me pushing it in my parking lot. Sold as a donor car to help keep others alive.
84 Mitsubishi Starion(flatsider) MT, eBay T4/3 turbo. White. Went to meet up in St Louis to get it, but the engine blew up on the way out. Someone else picked it up for me @ a discount and put a better engine in it, but had a misfire I could never resolve. Sold locally to someone who's rebuilding her.
I'd love to stop here, but I can't. Money issues and responsibilities(stay@home wife, child) have forced cars into practical, funless, necessities.
2001 Saturn L200. Maroon. Yes, that was a "THUD" you heard. Power Steering issue w/ oil bleeding into the pump and ruining everything. Was able to fix it into being manageable, but had to get rid of it. Tried finding a dealer who'd take an even trade...
2000 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Had 202K/mi on it. I'm sure both myself and the dealer was thinking "Ha, ha, sucker" as I drove off the lot. The steering column started smoking and burst into flames on the way home. AC died the next day. Was still better than the Saturn. Got 10K/mi out of that PT. I liked it.
Currently in a 2008 Chevy Malibu LS. Metallic Black. Has frame damage. Only way you can tell is some interior panels don't line up, but doesn't show on the Carfax. Got a great deal on it. For what it is, I love it.
My only hope for fun in the near future is this spring. Reliable daily for about $2K is in my future as the wife wants to get back into the workforce. She's gone stir crazy spending the last 4 years talking to a child all week. She'd get the 'Bu b/c of safety and all that. I get to fend for myself(FINALLY).
Suggestions?

$(too much) 633CSi - A big F.U. to L-Jetronic injection and leaking sunroofs. (A bigger F.U. to myself for not having enough money to properly deal with those issues.)
And now, a 1996 M-edition (or Travis Okulski edition) Miata 1.8.
I think my DD car ownership timeline can be explained by two factors.
1. As I got more mechanically capable, I took to buying more project-oriented cars. I went from more-or-less functioning Miata and 240SX to the Volvo, which had 99 problems. Next; the BMW, which was purchased non-running.
2. As Jalopnik lost Murilee Martin and more or less stopped talking about shit cars, and became somewhat of an automotive reddit, I started to want a car where everything worked (and also would be supported by the groupthink here), thus the Miata.
